The Hockey News Archive (thehockeynews.com/archive) North America’s most recognized hockey publication, launched its dedicated online archive. It delivers 2,640 issues to hardcore hockey fans beginning with volume one, issue one from October of 1947. Over 103,000 pages have been manually scanned to produce 156,000 articles — and counting.
“We are thrilled to launch The Hockey News Archive after so much effort but, to be honest, the work will never stop,” said W. Graeme Roustan, publisher of The Hockey News. “We will continue to update the archive on an ongoing basis as more historical documents and collections are added.
“This is a living, breathing archive that will continue to grow, as a true record of the history of the game we all love.”
The customized, proprietary platform design was created for ease of use and personalized curation based on each unique visitor. The technology will be continually upgraded to deliver optimal results for subscribers seeking to amplify their hockey fan experience.
“Working with Zinio really helped streamline our overall conversion process into multiple platforms. We want to make sure that our fans can enjoy our digital products wherever they want, whenever they want. We are currently available on the newsstands, the App store, Apple News+ and now adding this full archive for our readers to enjoy”, said Deputy Publisher & Creative Director at The Hockey News, Erika Vanderveer.
“We are thrilled to once again be expanding our partnership with The Hockey News. The re-purposing of historically valuable content for discovery and access by new audiences is at the core of ZINIO’s ethos, and we jumped at the chance to support The Hockey News with their vision for this new offering,” said Director of Client Services at ZINIO, Jean Zamora. “The combined creative talents of our respective teams have delivered what I think we can all agree is a modern, engaging and outright beautiful user experience.”
