We’re excited to bring you the next installation of our “Meet the Team” interview series, where we share what our team members are doing to help media-rich industries across the globe. Today, we share our interview with Donna Beasley from the Naviga marketing team.
Name
Donna Beasley
What is your role at Naviga?
Vice President of Marketing
Why did you get into the media and publishing industry?
I started my career in the sales department for my local daily newspaper in Birmingham, Alabama. A few years in, I had the chance to transition to the vendor side. That was 22 years ago, and I could not have imagined how much technology would have changed during that time!
What is one of the most important lessons you have learned while working in this field?
The customers we serve in the media industry are struggling through a very difficult time. They are battling every day to keep us informed and make sure a free press survives. And I am proud to work for a company that is building software designed to make their mission easier to accomplish.
What has been one of the most interesting trends you have seen in the industry in the past six months?
In the Advertising space, we are seeing a move away from Programmatic advertising and a focus by publishers to rely on their own ads where they can ensure the quality and the messaging that is delivered.
What are some of the things people should keep an eye out for in the next year?
The hot tech topic is definitely the metaverse and the new virtual opportunities it offers. Naviga is in a unique position to serve different geographical areas around the globe and different segments in the media and entertainment space. So, it will be interesting to see which regions and industries figure out the recipe to make money in the new virtual worlds.
What’s a fun fact about yourself that you’d like to share with our readers?
Since moving to Maine a couple of years ago, I have tried to come up with new ways to stay active during the cold, winter months. This year I am taking up cross country skiing, so hopefully that won’t lead me to learning how to use crutches, too.
